Claude O. Stumbo, Sr, 87, Fairview, KS died Monday evening, Oct 14, 1974 at the Hiawatha Memorial Community Hospital. He had been hospitalized since Wednsday
Mr Stumbo was born Sept 6, 1887, in Oklahoma Territory. Sept 11, 1912 he married Miss Elizabeth Maddus in Falls City. They established their home here. In November of 1915 they moved to a farm in the Hamlin area. He worked here for many years for the late C. E. Heck. In 1935 Mr and Mrs Stumbo moved to a farm in the Powhatten Community. They lived there until retiring and moving to Fairview in 1950. Mrs Stumbo died in May of 1956.
Mr Stumbo was a member of the Fairview United Church of Christ, the Hamlin lodge no 184, A. F. and A. M. and the I.O.O.F. lodge no 399 of Fairview and the Fairview Chamber of Commerce
Surviving Mr Stumbo is a son, Claude O. Stumbo, Jr, Suffolk, WA three daughters Mrs George (Jean) Simpson San Mateo, Calif, Mrs Oitis (Virginia) Mellenbruch, Pueblo, Colo and Mrs. Frank (Betty) Wenger, Hiawatha; two sisters Mrs Bertha Martin, Sterling, Colo, and Mrs. Naomi Hale, Lincoln; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
The body of Mr Stumbo is at Meek Mortuary in Hiawatha where the funeral wull be held at 10 o'clock Thursday Morning by the Rev W. T. Wentling of Hiawatha. Interment will be in Steele Cemetery here. Masonic services will be in charge of the Hamlin Lodge No 185
