LEW BROWN DEAD
The passing of one of Smith county's oldest settlers occurred Monday evening when Lew Brown while driving his car in company with his wife obeyed the summons that ushered him into the great beyond. They were on their way to Winfield where they expected to make their future home. When they left Smith center he appeared as well as ever and in excellent spirits. They were driving near Glasco when he suddenly asked his wife to take the wheel. He must have shut off the gasoline and when the car stopped he was dead. The body was brought back to Smith Center. The funeral will be held today and the body laid to rest in the Cora cemetery. He has lived in Smith county for fifty years and is known to almost everyone of the older residents. Next week we shall endeavor to give an obituary.
