Edith Lelwin Champlin Brizendine passed away June 12, 2014, at 91 years of age. She was the eldest daughter of Joseph Ernest Champlin and Ida Mae Lee Champlin and was born September 2, 1922, in the Briggs Community of Burnet County where she was raised. She married Eddie Fulton Brizendine in 1935, who preceded her in death in 1974. She was also preceded in death by her son Glyn Brizendine in 2012, brother Lawrence "Son" Champlin, and sister Inez LaGene Hunt and her husband John Ray Hunt.

Edith is survived by her eldest son Ernest Lelwin Brizendine of Austin, and daughter Betty Darlene Smith and husband Steve of Bertram. She is also survived by her grandsons Phillip Brizendine, Brent Smith and wife Tammy, Blake Smith and granddaughter Renee Yates and husband Lonnie. Her great grandsons are Trevor Smith, Kyle Brizendine and wife Samantha, Cody Smith and granddaughter Taylor Yates. She is also survived by one great-great granddaughter Paisley Brizendine and by sisters-in-law Rachel Champlin and Billie Brizendine and numerous other relatives and friends.

Edith was a homemaker and worked for the BCISD Cafeteria following the death of her husband Eddie. She was caretaker of her son Glyn the last years of his life. She lived at her ranch until a fall caused her to require the use of a wheelchair. She enjoyed her last year and a half at Pafford Place Assisted Living and made wonderful friends with the staff and other residents. She will be missed by many who knew her.

A visitation for Edith will be held Saturday evening June 14, 2014, from 6 to 8. Her funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home with Reverend Doug Lindley and Reverend Max Copeland officiating. Edith would be most pleased that her grandsons and great grandsons served as pallbearers.
