Struck by a light-rail train Tuesday morning August 20, 2002, succumbed to the injuries inflicted.

Jon Ashley Bowersox a very loving, caring, and devoted son, brother, husband and father is survived by his beloved wife, Nichol, his adored and beloved 14 month old son, Jon Paul of San Jose; his parents, Kenneth L. and Virginia R. Bowersox of Saratoga; Nichol's parents, Victor and Kim Dismas; his sister, Ronda L. Jones and her husband Russell P. Jones, nephew, Bryce A. Jones of Fremont; brother, Todd A. Bowersox and his wife, Nghiem Le, and son, Tyler Le Bowersox of San Jose; and Nichol's sister Angela, husband Douglas Aldrich and Nephew Justin Eddy of San Jose.

Jon is also survived by his Aunt Anita Bowersox and family from the York, New York area; Aunt Barbara and Uncle Oscar Burlingame and family of Portland, Oregon; Uncle Jack and Aunt Jean Bowersox and family of Bedford, VA; Uncle John O. and Aunt Barbara Seamon and family of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Jon was born October 24, 1955 in Jamestown, N. Y. Before moving to Saratoga in 1967, he also lived in Portville, N. Y. and Medfield, Mass.

After graduating from Lynnbrook High School, San Jose, CA in June 1973, Jon attended De Anza Community College and Operating Engineers Trade School in Burbank, CA. At the time of his death Jon was working at Mark Thomas & Co., Inc., Consulting Engineers.

For many years Jon was an active biker and hiker pursuing his interest and wonderment not only in the local mountains, canyons, streams and trails but the beauty, mystery and majesty of the cosmos with its planets, moons and stars.

All who knew Jon walked with him or talked with him or crossed his path from time to time will miss him with his friendly smile and gentle manner.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2002 at 11:00 AM at the Saratoga Presbyterian Church, 20455 Herriman Avenue, Saratoga, CA.

The family respectfully requests that floral offerings not be sent, donations may be made to the Jon A. Bowersox Memorial Trust.

San Jose man dies after train hits him

A 46-year-old San Jose man died Tuesday morning after being hit by a Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority light-rail train, officials said.

Investigators believe Jon Bowersox was not paying attention when he crossed North First and West Hedding streets against the light and stepped in front of the train at about 9 a.m., police said.

Bowersox was later pronounced dead at San Jose Medical Center, police said.
