Dallas, his wife Dora and five children were all killed when a semi-trailer truck crashed broadside into their family car.

The family had been living most recently in Blair, Nebraska where Dallas was working for the Blair Manufacturing Company. They had left Craig in 1960 in search of work.

According to Nebraska authorities who investigated the accident Dallas drove his car onto the highway into the path of the truck driven by Frederick Schwalm of Omaha, Nebraska. He was injured and later reported in good condition at a Freemont Hospital.

The heavy truck hit the car in the middle, throwing it into a ditch, then toppled over the car.

Rescue workers spent 90 minutes extricating the bodies of the victims. All were dead when take from the auto.

The lone surviving member of the family was 11-year old Roger Lewis who was staying with his grandmother Mrs. C. B. Dhanens of Freemont.

Dallas was preceased by his mother Dora Ellen Talkington in 1954.

He was survived by his father Ottie Eldora 'Auty' Talkington; six brothers Floyd, Artie, Willis, Russell, Charles, and Paul; two sisters Mrs. Alfred Blevins and Mrs. Dorothy Vaughan; two half-sisters Mrs. Merel Prather and Mrs. Earl Donathan; and his mother-in-law Mrs. C. B. Dhanens.

Funeral services for the family were held at the Zobel Chapel, with Rev. Lee R. Schuler officiating.

Zobel Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
