He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and Purple Heart recipient. He served in the Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe campaigns with Battery D, 575th AAA Battalion of the 11th Armored Division.
Jay was married to the late Phyllis Morgan. She preceded him in death in 1988.
He was retired from Herman Nelson Co. and Eriksen Chevrolet Buick, Milan.
Surviving are a stepdaughter; two stepgrandchildren; a niece; and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, four brothers and a sister.
