My 4th Great Grandfather,Moses Vincent Ashworth b. 1783 in VA, died 1838 in Posey Co. IN. One of the first Methodist circuit riding preachers in that part of the country. He married twice (1) (married 6 Oct. 1807) Jincey Muse in Pulaski Co. KY and (2) Elizabeth (Davis) Jenkins, widow of Joseph Jenkins, in TN circa 1818.
Son of John Morefield Ashworth.(1751 - 1822).
Father of Thomas Vincent Ashworth (1810-KY to 1875-TX).
Grandfather of Monroe Ashworth.
G-grandfather of John William Ashworth.
My 4th great grandfather.
Moses was Methodist Preacher - a "circuit rider". Have found no mention of him in early Pulaski Co., KY records (except for marriage bond) where his first marriage took place. His uncle Nathan Morefield-Ashworth and most of his children were in Adair Co. Ky (which later became Barren Co). However, as Circuit Rider, his territory included Kentucky.

Moses appears first in TN records as taxpayer in Bedford Co. 1812 - he was listed in Capt. Duncan Neille's Company #14, page 7. Also in Bedford Co. was Isaac Muse & his family - Isaac was the brother of Jincey Muse, first wife of Moses and mother of Thomas Vincent Ashworth (b. 16 Dec 1810 in KY) and a daughter who appears in Moses' household in the 1820 census born 1804-1810.
Aged 55 years.
