Mr. James Abraham, Sr., 86, longtime Bartlesville area resident, passed from this life at 4:28 am on Saturday, August 2 in the Medicalodge of Dewey.

Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Thursday, August 7 in the Greater First Baptist Church. Dr. Timothy Jackson will be the officiant. Committal prayers and interment will be directed in the White Rose Cemetery by The Arnold Moore Funeral Service. Mr. Abraham will lie in state in the Drawing Rooms of The Arnold Moore Funeral Residence where family and friends may call for their visitation until he is removed to the church for final rites on Thursday morning.

James Abraham was born June 26, 1922 at Haskell, Oklahoma. He was the son of the late William "Bill" Abraham and Lela (McFarthing) Abraham. He moved to Bartlesville with family members where he attended the Douglass School. He was united in marriage to Ada Goree and from that union, a daughter, Ruby Lee Abraham, was born.

He later was united in marriage to Doris Jean Eastland on March 31, 1947 at Independence, Kansas and from this union four children were born: Valeria Abraham, James Abraham, Jr, Gilda Abraham and Janet Darcel Abraham. James was employed by the City of Bartlesville, McGuire's Phillips Service Station and the National Zinc Company. He was also the owner of Abe's Hauling Service and retired in 1986. He was a member of Greater First Baptist Church in Bartlesville.

Mr. Abraham leaves to lament his passing his wife, Doris Jean Abraham of the Bartlesville home; his children, Ruby Abraham-Jackson and Jackie of Bixby, Okla., Valeria Abraham-Albritton of Bartlesville, James Abraham, Jr. and Marlyn of Bartlesville, Gilda Abraham-Seals and Cecil of Houston, Texas, Gerald Abraham, Connie Abraham and Carla Abraham all of Wichita, Kansas, Victor Abraham of Long Beach, Calif, Melvin Rowe and Marion Rowe both of Tulsa, Okla; a brother, Eddie Lee Rowe of Tulsa, Okla; 34 grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to his father and mother, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Lucille Tyler, Mattie Riley and Ethel Robertson; two daughters, Elsie Abraham and Janet Darcel Abraham; and a step-son, Donald R. Watson.
