Old records show that Dugal Campbell Shaw was born 4 November 1794 and died 17 May 1871. Dugal Campbell Shaw is the first Shaw to which Wayne County, MS families can connect. Old records show that he was born in Chester, South Carolina and later came to Winchester. He was known as "Judge Shawe". The story has been told that he left South Carolina because of bankruptcy and that when he had earned enough money in Mississippi he walked back to South Carolina to pay off his debts. He was "an eminent citizen and a pattern of morality."
Dugal married Emmaryllis Elizabeth Lang (the widow of Collins Horne) in 1817. Emmaryllis had three children when she married Dugal. Dugal and Emmaryllis had ten children. Theodore Shaw born 1825, John T. Shaw born 1837, George Patrick Shaw born 13 November 1839 and Olivia Victoria Shaw b 5 April 1845 were four of the children of Dugal and Emmaryllis and are also buried in the Winchester Cemetery. George Patrick Shaw was their youngest son and Olivia Victoria Shaw was their youngest daughter.
