G. R. Chamberlain, 93, Dies
George R. Chamberlain, 93, one of the oldest Braxton county citizens, died Monday night, August 11 at the home of his son, Raymond Chamberlain, near Nettie.Mr. Chamberlain was a native of Marion county but spent most of his life at Canfield. He was a retired farmer and at one time carried the mail between Canfield and Sutton. His wife, Ursula Skidmore Chamberlain died several years ago.
They were the parents of fifteen children. The following survive: Ida Boggs of LaFrank; A. O. Chamberlain, Gassaway; Letha Harris, Craigsville; Bettie Canfield, Charleston; Raymond, of Nettie, and Mrs. Robert Duffield, of Sutton.
Funeral services were held at the Berry Funeral Home at 2 p. m. Wednesday with the Rev. L. L. Reckart officiating, assisted by David Long. Burial was in the Canfield cemetery.
