Birth: in Benton county of the Oregon Territory near confluence of Marys and Williamette rivers on land her father in following founded a town named Marysville, now Corvallis, Benton county, Oregon then a population of around 814, she was 4th of eleven children, 1st to be born in what ten years following birth, became our 33rd state of Oregon.

Her father reportedly migrated to the Oregon Country among some other 3,000 emigrants, without his family in year of 1845 to settle in what in 1847 became Benton county, then sent for his wife and three children. After it became a territory of the United States in 1848, He reportedly went to California for short period during its Gold Rush days, returning, then around 1850, laid out a townsite on part of his 640 acre claim near confluence of Marys & Williamette rivers named Marysville (which in 1853 name was changed to Corvallis for the postal service) and had also began a merchantile business, was a member of the first Territorial Legislature for Oregon under president Zachary Taylor's appointed as the 3rd of five governors, John Pollard Gains, and Avery served as postmaster.

Census 1850, age 1 Marysville, later in 1853 Corvallis, Benton county, Oregon Territory with parents & four siblings.

Oregon became our 33rd state 14 FEB 1859.

Census: 1860, age 12 Corvallis, Benton county, Oregon with parents & seven sibling.

Census: 1870, age 21 Albany, Linn county, Oregon with hubby who is a lawyer.

Lost her hubby in 1876 some four months following her father's demise, left with their 6 year old son and possibly a 19 year old step-son.

Census: 1880, age 31 (NOT FOUND)

She was socially active, was one of the founders of local Saint Mary's Chapter of Eastern Star in 1886, was Worthy Matron 1891, and the Grand Worthy Matron to the State Chapter in 1896.

She built what now is known as the Helm-Hout house at 844 SW 5th street in Corvallis in 1890, residing there but four years, passing it on to her beloved friends, Elizabeth & Charles Hout who had named their frist daughter Frank Helm Hout in 1892 in her honor, remaining in the home twelve years.

Census: 1900, age 51 (NOT FOUND)

Census: 1910, age 61 Corvallis, Benton county, Oregon, a widow boarding with others, stating she had one child who is living.

Death: in Corvallis, Benton county, Oregon.

NOTE: From Natalie Coffin 13 MAR 2014, to wit: ~ "Unfortunatley, I believe that the grave of Frances Helm is unmarked. I found her husband's headstone and he is the only one listed on it. There is room on it for other family members but there is no information. I actually talked to the cemetery's curator today. We both looked at the Helm headstone and he agreed. He says that she is buried there but that her information was never put on the headstone and that happens occassionally. I will post the pictures of the Helm upright headstone that you probably already have seen. Sorry...I know that's dissapointing."

Married: 08 NOV 1868 in Benton county, Oregon.
