Westward ho! was the cry of another pioneer family as Harrison and Anna Catherine loaded a covered wagon with their possessions and started for Iowa in 1876 in search of a new home. They left Princeton, IL with their three small children. After many weeks on the road, fording the Mississippi River, and weathering the cold and blustery winds they arrived in Marshall County around the first of March. They homesteaded a farm about four miles south west of Melbourne, erecting shelter, clearing the land, and planting the crops.
A few years later he bought one hundred and sixty acres of land about three miles east of Rhodes from Isaac Gulih.
Around the turn of the century Harrison and Anna Catherine moved to Rhodes leaving James Ora to farm the home place. He would walk to the farm to help the boys pick corn.
