SAVOY - Funeral services for Lamar Burris, 92, of Savoy will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 4, 2008, in Mullican-Little Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Bill Sessom of First Baptist Church will officiate, and burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
He died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008, in Mullican Care Center.
Mr. Burris was born Nov. 12, 1915, in the Mahuen community, south of Savoy, the son of Everett and Pearl Burt Burris. He attended Mahuen School and graduated from Savoy Schools. He married Louise Edens on Jan. 11, 1947, in Denison.
Lamar worked for Hardwick-Etter and IBM, retiring from IBM in 1979. After his retirement, Lamar worked for Gaylean Murray in Ector and raised cattle. He loved to garden and play dominoes every Thursday at the Fireman's Hall in Bells. Most of all he loved his family. He was a 32nd degree Mason in the Bells Masonic Lodge No. 798, where he received his 60 year pin. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Savoy.
Surviving are his wife, Louise Burris of Savoy; daughters, Vicki Burris of Justin and Karla Little and her husband Larry of Bells; sister, Mildred Moore of Savoy; grandchildren, Brett and Jentry Little and Bradlee and Megan Little of Bells; and great-grandchildren, Cash and Laykin Little.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son Eddie Lee Burris.
Pallbearers will be Brett Little, Bradlee Little, Jack Moore, Bob Tidwell, Billy Bibby, Johnny Rigsby and Bill Steedman.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to In Memory of Lamar Burris, First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 177, Savoy, TX 75479.
