Harry D. Skelton
Harry D. Skelton, 95, of Oxford, PA passed away on Saturday, August 2, 2008 at his home. He was the husband of the late Grace Ironside Skelton.
Born in Castleton on Hudson, NY, he was the son of the the late Harry L. and Sarah Van Salisbury Skelton. Harry lived in Unionville for many years before moving to Oxford in 1964. He attended schools in Massachu-setts and Vermont. He was employed as a salesman and cost analyst, retiring from Tri-M Corporation, Kennett Square in 1978. He was a member of the Oxford Presbyterian Church, the Oxford Lodge #353 F&AM, Oxford Senior Center, past member of the XYZ Club, Oxford, former member of the Oxford Zoning Hearing Board and Scout Committeeman for Troop 22, Unionville. He loved hunting and fishing and was a long time member of the NRA and the Ruffed Grouse Society. A musician he played and sang with several big bands during the '30s and '40s. Most recently he was a member of The Septo's a small group that entertained at Senior Centers and rest homes.
He is survived by 1 son, Harry D. Skelton, Jr. of Oxford; 1 grandson, Gregory D. Skelton of Newark, DE; and 2 great-granddaughters, Emily and Mackenzie Skelton. He was preceded in death by a sister, Cornelia M. Skelton and a brother, Edward B. Skelton.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at the Edward L. Collins Funeral Home, Inc. 86 Pine St. Oxford, where friends may call from 10-11 am. Interment will be in Oxford Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Oxford Senior Center Building Fund, 12 E. Locust St. Oxford, PA 19363.
