Shares Tombstone with W. Phillippi Goen.
Prentiss Mariposa is the son of Prentiss Lewis Goen and Elizabeth QUINN Goen. Prentiss died between 1884 and June 23, 1900 at Olustee, Jackson Co., OK (previously Greer Co., OK)
Prentiss married Cornelia "Neeley" RAY (Cornelias' father died and her mother remarried William Mose Ewing and Cornelia went by this name also. Prentiss and Cornelia married in Johnson Co., TX. To this union were born these known children: W. Phillipp, Philliam (daughter), Arthur Claud and Williamm Stanford Goen (named for his uncle, William Stanford Goen)
Prentiss father was involved the the 49ers goldrush and was in the Mariposa Mountains and barely survived a grizzly bear. I feel sure that is why he names his son Mariposa. Information shared by Connie Pace, My note: Mariposa translates "butterfly" from the Spanish language.

You will be interested to know that Prentiss M. Goen was the husband to my 2nd great Aunt. The family story is that Mr. Goen was killed when a tornado struck their house on May 14, 1892. The infant daughter Phillippi's death date is unknown but was surely close to the same date as her father as they share the same headstone.
