He served under Col.Samuel Willard on Scoting parties, and his name appears with other Lancaster men on the rolls of one expedition in the summer of 1748. (It was his son Nathaniel who served during the American Revolution.)

He married, first, Thankful Sawyer on Feb 9,1731 at Lancaster,MA. He married, second, Dorcas Spofford of Lunenburg,MA, intentions Jul 21,1758 at Leominster,MA.
