Daughter of John Shaeffer Swingle & Catherine "Caty" Moore. Eve was christened in the Dutch Reformed Church in Orange Co., NY. There are record discrepancies regarding her birthdate, which could have been 1788 or 1790. About 1805 she married Justus Cobb. The 1788 dob seems more likely as she would have been 16 at her marriage, rather than 14 if she was born in 1790. Eve & Justus had 7 known children: Elizabeth, Catharine, Justus Jr., Abigail, Charlotte, Benjamin & Harriet Jane. After her husband Justus died, Eve married 2 more times, first to George Morgan, then to Zachariah Emery.
