General Anthony Wayne. His unit was encamped at Valley Forge during the Winter of 1777-1778. Philip Haupt's service would continue in the Pennsylvania Militia until 1785-1786. His widow's pension application #R5205.
Philip Haupt would marry Anna Margaretha Whisler on Dec. 11, 1781. She was the daughter of Johann Wolfgang Whisler of Providence Twp., Montgomery Co., PA. She was born Dec. 7, 1760. The two were married by Rev. Henry Melchior Muhlenberg in Trappe, PA. Muhlenberg is the father of the Lutheran Church in America.
Their children were: John (b. 1785), Mary (b. 1786), Daniel (b. 1790), Samuel (b. 1792), Henry (b. 1795), and Joseph Wesley (b. 1797). The family resided on 304 acres located in Irish Valley - just east of Augustaville, PA and north of Shamokin, PA.
Sons John and Daniel did not marry or have children. Son Samuel (b. 1792) settled across the Susquehanna River in Hartleton Twp., Union Co., PA. See links below for sons Henry (b. 1795), Joseph (b. 1797) and Samuel (b. 1792).
