Albert J. Toberman, Born October 4, 1921 and left this world on July 30, 2008 where he was no doubt greeted by many of his family and friends. Albert was a decorated veteran of WWII serving in Normandy, Northern France and the Rhineland as Chief Warrant Officer. He served with the United States Army from 1942 - 1946. He was assigned to the 3112th Signal Service Battalion where he worked in radio communications, a field he loved. After the war he earned his BS in Electrical Engineering from Northwestern University, and his Masters in Electrical Engineering from Arizona State University. He worked for Motorola Government Electronics Division and retired in 1987 after 36 years of service. Albert's many professional accomplishments included work on the space shuttle, the B-2 Stealth Bomber and many other government and aerospace projects. He was proud of his contributions and often commented how lucky he was to absolutely love his job. Albert's love of electronics carried through to his hobbies. He was active for many years with several amateur radio clubs. There was always an amateur or short wave radio chattering in the background of his home. Albert was fascinated by Arizona and it's diverse landscape, he joined several gem and mineral clubs and explored perhaps every inch of his beloved state. Albert has two daughters, Jeanee Marie who preceded him in death last year, and Mary Lynn. He was the best Father any child could have. He is further survived by his grandchildren Eileen Marie and Alexander John, his sister Barbara and nieces Barbara and Susie. Albert will be greatly missed as he was a loved man, an incredibly intelligent and funny man, but most of all - he was a good man. Graveside services will be held Friday, August 8th, 10:00 am at the Veteran's National Cemetery in Phoenix.Published in The Arizona Republic on 8/3/2008
