Margaret was the only child of Thomas Presley Anderson and Sarah Ann Moody. She was married on Sept. 3, 1873 in Johnson Co., Missouri to George W. Matthews, who was the oldest son of Robert Matthews and Mary L. Lemmon of Johnson Co., Missouri.

Maggie is buried alongside her daughter, Annie "May" Renfro and daughter-in-law, Effie Barr. Maggie's son, Harry (Effie Barr's husband) is buried in the same section but in a different lot number, alongside his 2nd wife, Mayme A. Thomas.
