ANOTHER OBITUARY READS:

The death Angel again visited our home on Sunday night, January 12, 1964, at 8:45, and took from us our beloved husband and dad, Oscar A. McCane, at the age of 86 years, 4 months and 9 days. Born Sept. 3rd, 1877, in Rowan County, Ky., the son of James and Ellen (Sanks) McCane, he was the last of eleven children. Most of his life was spent in Lewis County, Ky., around the Charters community. May 24th, 1901, he was united in marriage to Ella A. Polley; to this union eleven children were born. In early life he was converted in a revival at Muses Chapel and has lived a very close religious life for his Lord ever since.

His prayers and testimony will be greatly missed in the church and his home. He had been in failing health for more than a year but serious since the 5th of November. One small stroke would follow another until the end.

Before moving to Rushville in Jan. 1950, he belonged to the Christian Holiness Church in Vanceburg, later he moved his membership to the Church of the Nazarene in Rushville, Ind., where he attended regularly as long as his health would permit. He often told us he didn't mind to die, for he was ready to go, but he hated to leave mom and us children. We feel our loss is heaven's gain. It was oh so hard to give him up but God needed him more than we did and took him home to live with Him, where he will have no more suffering or pain, he bor his pain and suffering so patiently to the end.

On Xmas day Dad asked the blessing for dinner it was oh so sad, for we all felt this would be Dad's last Xmas with us. He was one of the best of fathers, we wouldn't have wanted to change a thing in his life for he was so good and kind to everyone and was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need, if he could. He will be sadly missed by his family, relatives, and freinds. He was a loving husband, dad and granddad, and was loved by everyone he came in contact with. He cannot come to us, bu we can go to him. He loved his Bible and loved to read to his children. We will never forget you dad, for your wonderful teaching.

Besides his wife he leaves nine children, five sons: Phineas, of Vanceburg, Manford, Willard, Ancil and Glenford of Rushville, Ind.; four daughters, Mrs. Floyd (Lester) Redden, Mrs. Albert (Elsie) Porter, Mrs. Edward (Ica) Hanley, and Mrs. Clyde (Audrey) Raike, of Rushville, Ind. Twenty-six grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren. Two sons, Elwood and Ward, preceded him in death. Also five brothers and five sisters.

Services were conduct at 2 p.m. at Moster and Sons Funderal Home with the Rev. Howard Baker, his pastor, and the Rev. James Tharpe and Rev. Columbus Bloomfield. He was laid to rest in East Hill Cemetery.
