Nannie Land moved to Texas with her parents as a young girl. She lived most of her life in Shelby and Sabine counties. Mrs. Alford died at the home of her son, B. M. Alford, at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, September 4, 1926. Survivors were 1 son, B. M. Alford, county clerk of Shelby County, and 5 daughters: Mrs. T. H. Brittain of Center, Mrs. F. P. Swanzy and Mrs. E. A. Doggett of Shelbyville, Mrs S. J. Watson of Joaquin, and Mrs. J. M. Combs of Beaumont. She was a sister of W. C. Land, former postmaster of Center. Funeral services were held at the home of her son, on Sunday morning, September 5.
