Ed Clifford Dies At 43
Was Native Of Liberty, Former Restaurant Owner

Edward Thomas Clifford, 43, of 209 Weston avenue, former Valparaiso restaurateur, died unexpectedly Sunday at 12:40 a.m., in Porter Memorial hospital.
Clifford was born in Liberty township on Jan. 25, 1910, the son of Dennis F. and Johanna Crumley Clifford. His mother preceded him in death in 1942. Clifford graduated from Valparaiso high school in 1927.
On May 12, 1936, he married Edith Gast in Valparaiso. She survives. A resident of Porter county all his life, Clifford owned and operated the Old Style restaurant from 1943 to 1948.
Surviving are his widow; five sons, Robert, Michael, William, Larry and Richard, all of Valparaiso; a daughter, Jo Ann, of Valparaiso; his father, Dennis Clifford, of brother; a brother, Atty. Leo Clifford, Valparaiso; a brother, Atty. Leo Clifford, Valparaiso, and a sister, Mrs. William Hoote, Eau Claire, Wis.
Prayers will be offered at 8:30 a.m., Tuesday at Dykes Funeral home, followed by funeral services at 9 a.m., at St. Paul's church with the Rev. Raymond Derrick officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul's cemetery.
Friends may call at the Dykes Funeral home from this afternoon until time of the services. Rosary will be recited at 8 o'clock tonight at the funeral home.
