James Griffin was William Lawson Griffin's son, conceived with Fannie Owen during the Siege of Petersburg.
Fannie had family in Virginia but came to N.C. to Anderson and Sallie's to have the baby.
Bill and Fannie never married --
Bill went on to marry Ary Ann Brim after the War and start a family with her.
