Don and Ruth Volk of Norfolk have received word of the Dec. 10 death of the latter's uncle, Troy Horner, 77, Canby, Ore., a former local resident. Services were conducted Dec. 14 at the Hillside Chapel, Oregon City, Ore., with burial in Mr. View Cemetery there. A memorial fund is being established for the Cancer Society. Mr. Horner was born March 3, 1907, at Norfolk to the late Melvin and Minnie Rowlette Horner. He attended school in the Norfolk area, and farmed here until moving to Oregon City, Ord., in 1936. He married Margaret Schlect in June 1931. He was employed as a machine operator for a paper mill in Oregon for 29 years and retired in 1969. He had made his home at Canby, Ore., the past seven years. He was a member of Local 68, AWPPW, a paper mill union and the Church of Christ. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Don (Doris) Rider of Beaver Creek, Ore.; nine grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Howard in 1958, one brother and one sister.
