David Milton Caldwell was born Feb. 6th, 1932, in Dayton, Ohio, and while quite young was brought to this county then a part of Sangamon, by his parents Alexander and Judith Bunn Caldwell.
On Jan. 31, 1858, he was united in marriage with Elizabeth Squires, to them were born seven children, Eliza Ann, John A., Mary Lucy, Dillie Frances, Elizabeth Lydia, William Marshall and Henry.
His wife died May 11, 1876. Five of the children passed on to the better world, three of them going the month preceding the mother's death.

Mr. Caldwell was married to Clarinda T. Clark, June 5, 1879. To them were born two daughters Martha Ann and Jennie Rebecca, the latter entered into [illegible] nearly seven years ago.
He is survived by his wife and three daughters Mrs. Mary Lounsbury of Holyoke, Colo., Mrs. Dillie Clary of Sandridge precinct this county and Mrs. Martha Bloom of Panora, Iowa, also six grandchildren.
He was converted about forty-five years ago and joined Concord church of which he was a faithful member until released by death which gave rest to a tired soul on Monday morning Aug. 26, 1912.
Deceased lived 80 years, 6 months and 20 days, the last of twelve children his twin sister having died nearly 21 years ago. He had resided seventy years on the same farm 34 miles northwest of Petersburg and within Sanddidge precinct since coming to Illinois.
Mr. Caldwell was firm in his convictions and steadfast in what he believed to be right, living an honest and industrious, upright life, attending strictly to his own affairs.
He was kind to the poor, especially children and none went hungry from his door.
