My great-grandma Grauel died when I was nine, so I don't remember much about her. She was a tiny woman, but raised a family of eight, five of them boys. I remember a very strong willed woman until she declined.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fulton, MD at least from her marriage until her death. Here is a clipping of her obituary that I found in my Grandmothers collection:
On Monday, August 23, 1965, Lilliah M. Grauel (nee Gaither) of Fulton, Md., beloved wife of the late John A. Grauel; mother of Janet C. Renn, Ruby A. Tyler, Virgie N. Wehland, Gilbert C., George H., Roland N., Cissel S. and Kenneth E. Grauel. Friends may call at the Donaldson Funeral Home, 313 Talbott ave., Laurel, Md. Funeral services at St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Fulton on Thursday, at 10:30 a.m. Interment in church cemetery.
Source unknown, clipping from Janet C. Renn's collection.
