Juila Jean Coffin, 83, of Pocatello, our aunt, sister and friend, passed away from this life Thursday, July 24, 2008.
Jean was born August 16, 1924, in Marsh Center, Idaho, to Golden (Dutch) and Julia Bright Coffin.
Jean graduated from Pocatello High School in 1945. She worked for Meadow Gold Creamery for over twenty years. For the next twenty-three years Jean worked in housekeeping in the Science Department of Idaho State University. She retired in 1988 at the age of 64.
Jean loved to read murder mysteries, listen to music, travel, go camping, and anything that allowed her to spend time with her family. Jean was always ready for a new adventure!
Although Jean never married or had any children of her own, Jean was never denied the pitter patter of little feet. Being her nieces and nephews we were always a part of Jean's life from the day each of us was born until the day Jean passed. Jean was our Aunt. At times she was a sister to us and always like a mother to us, but mostly she was our best friend.
Jean is survived by her brother; Blaine Dee (Ann) Coffin, of Pocatello; nephews, Ben (Nancy) Coffin, of Pocatello, Doug (Denise) Coffin, of Boise, Kevin (Kathy) Coffin, of Pocatello; nieces, Chris (Brent) Manning, of Bountiful, Utah, Shanna (Bob) Thomas of Pocatello, and Deanne Coffin of Pocatello; as well as twenty great nieces and nephews and twenty-six great-great nieces and nephews. Jean has been preceded in death by her father, Golden (Dutch) Coffin; her mother, Julia Bright Coffin Barnes; sister, Norene Ellen Coffin; brothers, Gale Coffin and Benny Dale Coffin; nephews, Gary and Dutchy Coffin and niece Deborah Ann Coffin.
Jean spent the past five years at Whispering Pines Assisted Living Center in Chubbuck, Idaho. The family wishes to thank the staff for the wonderful care and love their dear Aunt received at their facility.
Funeral services will be held for Jean at 12 noon Monday, July 28, 2008, at the L.D.S. Juniper Hills Ward (8200 W, Portneuf Road) with Bishop Kevin Coffin, officiating. The family will receive friends this evening, Sunday, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave. and Monday from 11:00 to 11:45 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Downey, Idaho Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to the Coffin family at www.manningwheatleyfuneralchapel.com.
Jean will be greatly missed by all those whose lives she touched and everyone who ever had the chance to laugh with her throughout the years. "Oh Sugar!"
