Curly owned and operated the Gamble Store in Athens from 1954 until the early 1970s.
Survivors include his wife, Josephine (Habrich) Brookhyser, Athens sons, Bernard Brookhyser, Montgomery, Ala., Glenn (Debbie) Brookhyser, Mazomanie, Wendell (Sue) Brookhyser, Watertown, and Karl Brookhyser, Athens daughters, Karen Brookhyser, Sacramento, Calif., and Gretchen Townsend, Albuquerque, N.M. nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and a sister, Gertrude Wendorf, Rothschild.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Athens. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Peter Cemetery, Eagle River. Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens, and again from 9:30 a.m. Monday until the time of services at the church.
