Charles H. Halterman 81 of 720 N Barclay St. died at 6:30 am Monday at his home of complications incidental to advanced age.
He was born May 13, 1874 to Esau and Emiline McKnight Halterman at Shenandoah, Iowa. He married Minnie Whiteman December 2, 1896 at Sidney Iowa.
He moved to Waterloo 47 years ago where he was stores department employee of the Illinois Central RR for 28 years; he retired in 1948. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Clerks, Black Hawk Lodge Number 397.
He is survived by his wife; one son, William of Independence, Iowa; one daughter, Mrs. D. (Delson) A. Decker 815 Linden Avenue; 2 sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Rittner, Omaha, Nebraska and Mrs. Myrtle Goodwin of Clarinda, Iowa; also 5 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother. Services are set for 1:30 PM at Chapel of Memories. The Rev Ray Cox of the Broadway Church of the Nazarene will officiate. Burial Midwest Garden of Memories.
