Britta Hearne Vance, 100, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 31, 2007, in Houston at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Tom Mooney, where she had lived since 2002.
Funeral: 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Mount Olivet Chapel. Burial: Mount Olivet Cemetery.
Britta was born March 24, 1907, in Clarksville to Ida Bell Adams and Guy D. Hearne. She graduated from Clarksville High School in 1925 and moved to Fort Worth, where she lived for the next 77 years.
She loved music and had a beautiful voice, singing for many years in church choirs and at weddings and funerals. She was a wonderful bridge player who especially enjoyed her weekly bridge club and her many dear bridge friends. She and her husband were members of First United Methodist Church and the Twosome Class with its many friends.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Frank Holland, in 1927 after only six weeks of marriage. After a long, happy marriage, she was also predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Howard Earl Vance, in 1991.
Survivors: Daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Tom Mooney; granddaughters, Jennifer Sheppard and Allison Donnahoe; grandson-in-law, Brett Donnahoe; great-grandsons, Devin and Ryan Donnahoe; sisters-in-law, Caleta Hearne and Phyllis Vance; seven nieces; and three nephews.
