DANFORTH - Visitation for Edna Gretja Koets, 95, of Danforth, will be from 5-8 pm today at the Redinius Funeral Home, Gilman, and from 10 am Monday until the 11 am services at St. John's Lutheran Church, Danforth, where she was a member. Rev. James Gerth will officiate.

Burial will be at the Danforth Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Gilman Nursing Paviliion, Prairieview Lutheran Home, Danforth or to St. John's Lutheran Church, Danforth.

Mrs. Koets died Friday (March 8, 2002) at the Gilman Nursing Pavilion.

She was born Nov. 23, 1906, in Ashkum, the daughter of George and Anna Brock Meier.

Her first husband, John A. Wilken, whom she married June 11, 1938, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Danforth, died Nov. 4, 1956.

Her second husband, Tim Koets, whom she married Sept. 14, 1973, at the Ashkum United Methodist Church, died Feb. 25, 1989.

Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Roy George and Marilyn L. Wilken of Danforthl; two grandchildren, two great-grandsons; four stepchildren, Phyllis Garvey of Indianapolis, IN, Beverly Hendron of Mahomet, Duane Koets of Welaco, TX, Gary Koets of Ashkum; and five stepgrandchildren.

One brother, William Meier; and one stepgrandson, Kevin Garvey, are deceased.

She graduated from Ashkum and Gilman High Schools and received her teacher training at Illinois State Normal University in Normal, IL.

Mrs. Koets taught in rural and town schools in the Ashkum area for many years.

She was a member of the Dorcas Circle and Sarah Circle of her church.
