Jack Leroy Miller, 89, of Wabash, Indiana died at 1:45 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at Wabash County Hospital. He was born January 31, 1919 in Richvalley, Indiana to Lorin and Jessie (Denton) Miller.
He married Ethel Mae Scott at North Webster, Indiana on July 6, 1940; she died March 8, 2003. He worked for Container Corporation in Wabash 41 years, and was a general all around handyman. Jack was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Hanna Masonic Lodge #61 and the American Legion Post 15, all of Wabash, and the Lake Chapman Conservation Club. He was a World War II Navy veteran. Jack enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports, camping, traveling, and especially family. He lived on Chapman Lake in Kosciusko County 12 years.
He is survived by three sons, Ronald Scott (Jane) Miller of Wabash, Jonathan Lee (Nancy) Miller of Peru, and Timothy Charles (Hilda) Miller of Fort Wayne; daughter, Elizabeth Luann (Dave) Moberg of Indianapolis; daughter-in-law, Gaye Miller of Wabash; special friend, Lillian Gebert of Fort Wayne; 14 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, and 2 step grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, J.D. Miller who died June 22, 2002, and his sister, Geneva Wire.
Funeral services will be held at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, on Friday, June 27, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. William R. Garver officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawns Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call 4-8 p.m., Thursday, June 26 at the funeral home, where there will be a Masonic service at 7:30pm.
Preferred memorial is First United Methodist Church.
