NOBLE WOMAN GOES TO REST AT LAST
After many weary months of suffering during which she underwent several surgical operations, Mrs Robert H Finney, wife of our well known farmer-citizen, died at their ranch on the Sonora and Mono road, four miles east of this city, last Monday morning a few minutes after the clock struck seven
Although the death of Mrs Finney had long been expected, the battle against the final summons was waged up to the very last. The devoted husband employed a surgeon of recognized skill to combat the advances of the malignant cancer in his wife's breast that was slowly but surely eating its way to a vital spot, but to no avail. Each succeeding operation merely gave temporary relief to the poor sufferer, who bore up under all with true Christina fortitude, faintly hoping in what she knew was a hopeless cause, and finally entering the shadow of eternity with smiling resignation.
Mrs Finney was a native of this state and 56 years of age. Her life was passed in this county and here live numerous friends who sincerely mourn her death. As Miss Fannie Adams she was graduated from the Sonora public school, later becoming a teacher in the same institution.
Beside her grief stricken, lonely husband, Robert H Finney, she leaves three brothers and two sisters, George and Henry Adams of this county, Thomas Adams who present residence is unknown, Mrs Clara Reynolds who lives with her husband, Fred Reynolds on their picturesque mountain ranch at Hyde Creek Falls, and Mrs Addie Morris of Elmira, Solano county.
The funeral was held Wednesday under the auspice of Sierra Rebekah Lodge No 245 IOOF of which the deceased was a member. Internment was made in Odd Fellows cemetery.
