Judge King Services Set Monday

Funeral services for Randall County Judge Lloyd King, 61, of 4403 Tawney, will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the Polk Street Methodist Church with Dr. Harry Vanderpool, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors. Pallbearers will be S. T. Curtis, J. T. Brodie, Leo Miller, Jim Lumpkin, Hugh Cox, R. C. Hamilton, W. L. McConnell, Jake King and Fred Fyfe. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Texas Bar Association and the Randall County Commissioners Court.
Judge King died Friday night in St. Anthony's Hospital. He had been hospitalized since suffering a heart attack on Monday.
He was born June 8, 1906, into a pioneer Lipscomb County ranching family and graduated from Canadian High School in 1925.
He received his law degree in 1932 from Cumberland University in Lebanon, Tenn., and had attended the University of Texas from 1925 to 1930.
In 1933, Judge King began practicing law here and was city attorney from 1935 to 1937. He later became a claims attorney and insurance adjuster.
He served as district attorney for the 47th Judicial District from 1947 to 1950 and briefly served as appointed judge of the Amarillo Corporation Court in 1951.
Judge King, who owned a ranch near Canadian had served as Randall County Judge from 1964 until his death.
Survivors include his wife, Josephine; daughters, Mrs. Ken Randall Jr. of San Angelo and Mrs. Ben Mathers of Canadian; a son, Malcolm of San Clemente, Calif.; his mother, Mrs. A. R. King of Canadian; a sister, Mrs. R. L. Miles of Atlanta, Tex., and five grandchildren.
