John was the son of Augustine & Anna (Stasilonis) Zubas. He immigrated to the United States through Ellis Island, arriving 10 April 1905. John married Josephine Malcer 30 May 1909 at St. Casimir Church, Yonkers, Westchester County, New York. John & Josephine had 6 children: Mary Victoria (1909-1885), Walter (1910-1910), John Joseph (1912-2006), Stanley Walter (1917-1996), Helen Ann (1918-2000) & Adelaide Agnes (1921-2002). He worked as a gardener.
