Bertha I. Zimmerman Sept 9, 1913 March 1, 2007 Bertha Irene Zimmerman, 93, passed away Thursday at Golden Days Elder Care in Corvallis. She was born in Arnold, Neb., the daughter of Lucy and Hank Hammond. Bertha married Paul Zimmerman on April 28, 1936, in Coeur D'Alene, Idaho. They had four daughters, Margaret, Mildred, Donna Rae and Janet. The family made their home in Corvallis. She started her working career as a cook for Sunnybrook Restaurant and retiredas head cook for Good Samaritan Hospital. , Her hobbies included quilting, crocheting and any kind of needlework. Bertha will be remembered as a gentle and giving person with a generous spirit She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Paul Zimmerman, who passed in 1999 and her daughter, Donna Rae Zimmerman, who passed in 1962. She is survived by three daughters; one sister, Grace Daniels; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 31 great-great grandchildren. A graveside service will be at 1 1 a.m. Saturday, March 3, at Oak Lawn Memorial Park in Corvallis. The family requests memorial donations be directed to Benton Hospice in care of McHenry Funeral Home 206 N.W. Fifth St., Corvallis, OR 97330.
