He grew up in Lincoln and graduated from Lincoln High School Class of 1956. On February 24, 1962, he was united in marriage to Jacqueline Fischer at St. Paul Lutheran Church, in Stover, MO. Unto this union, one daughter and two sons were born. They made their home and raised their family in Lincoln. Don was a cattle and crop farmer for many years. He enjoyed the hard work on the farm and the community fellowship that it brought with it. He also worked at the local MFA Exchange since the mid-80's until his recent illness.
Don is a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church. He was baptized at his home on October 9, 1938 and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church on April 6, 1952. He served the church in many capacities including the Christian Board of Education, Elder and Chairman of the Congregation.
He served on the Lincoln R-2 School District Board of Education, the Central Missouri Electric Co-Op Board of Directors for 33 years and as a MFA Oil Delegate, as well as numerous other community activities.
Don was an avid high school basketball fan and enjoyed not only watching his children and grandchildren play, but many Lincoln athletic teams through the years. He could be found at many of the local coffee hot spots, where he kept up on the news and activities in and around the county.
He is preceded in death by his father, Emil Eifert in 1963.
He is survived by his wife, Jackie, daughter, Rhonda Monnig and her husband Rick, of Salisbury, MO, sons, Mark Eifert, of Lincoln and Gary Eifert and his wife Becky, of Cole Camp, his grandchildren; Allison, Kristin and Megan Monnig and Grant and Gracyn Eifert, his mother, Norma Eifert of Lincoln and other relatives and many friends.
Burial will be at the Immanuel Cemetery.
