On November 14, 1942, he married Dimple Davis in Scott City, Kan., and they made their home on a farm in Stanton County. To this union five children were born, RaeDene, David, Judy, Dale, and Derry Wayne.

Raymond has a brother named John Clifford, who married Ruth Davis, who is Raymond's sister in law through his wife Dimple. Another words, two sisters married two brothers.

A story of Dimple and Raymond as told by Helen O'Brate Cook, family friend and neighbor.

One night when I was in high school at Manter I was coming home really late from a school function. This was about 1954 or 55, and I was about 14 years old. I had dropped Maurina Loader off at her grandparents house (the Kilgore's). I had a flat on the tire at her house-we got it changed and I started on home, around midnight by then, I guess, and had another flat just up the hill west of Dimple and Raymond's. I had a flashlight in the car and started walking toward their house. When I got there I knocked and called their names but couldn't raise anyone. At a loss to know what else to do I opened the door and walked into their bedroom and shook Raymond awake to tell him my predicament. I don't remember if he took me home or called my parents to come and get me and the car. We never locked our doors then.
