A shawnee man was killed Sunday afternoon while helping to tow a sunken boat ashore on Lake Eufaula.
Frank Fuxa, 31, was struck in the neck by a part of the boat after the rope used to pull the craft out of the water broke.
He was flown to the St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, where he died shortly upon arrrival.


Frank Alan Fuxa 31, Shawnee, died Sunday in a boating accident at Lake Eufaula.
Services are set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Rest Haven Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jonathan Cholcher of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Shawnee, officiating. Graveside services will follow at 2:30 at the Richburg Cemetery in Perry.
He was born Dec 5, 1961, in Shawnee to Lasrry and Phillis Fuxa. Fuxa attended Shawnee public Schools and graduated from Shawnee High School in 1980. He attended OSU Tech in Okmulgee, graduating as a diesel mechanic in 1982.
Fuxa worked at Dinsmore Motor Co. in Shawnee before going to work for General Motors Oklahoma City division as an assembler. He had recently transfered to the General Motors plant in Arlington, Texas.
He was a member of the of U.A.W. Local 1999 and the Bassmasters. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Shawnee.
His maternal grandfather, Dilbert Gerkn and his paternal grandfather Frank Fuxa, perviously died.
Survivorsd include his mother, Phillis Fuxa, Shawnee;his father Larry Fuxa, Kingston, Okla; a brother, Robert Fuxa, Oklahoma City; a sister, Teresa fuxa, Alanta, Ga; his paternal grandmother,Eunice Fuxa, Bethal Acres; his maternal grandmother; juanita Gerken,Perry;special friend Monica Baden, Oklahoma City; and numerous uncles,ants,nieces and nephews.
