Dunn final rites held on Sunday
Final rites were held from the Slininger Chapel in Jefferson at 3 p.m. Sunday for Benjamin Dunn, 70, with the Rev. Clinton B. Meininger, minister of the Central Christian Church at Jefferson,in charge.
Mrs C. C. Charles sang "In the Garden" and "Rock of Ages," accompanied by Mrs. Curtis Wilson.
Casket bearers were Lester Pierson, Fred Vogel, Pat Hood, Lawrence Moran, Leonard Lindgren and Francis McNulty.
Interment was in the Jefferson Cemetery.
Benjamin R., son of Joseph W.and Mary Elizabeth Fleming Dunn, was born Dec 16, 1892, at Rockport, Mo., and died at the Greene County Hospital on July 12, 1963, at the age of 70 years, six months and 26 days. He was raised and attended schools near Rockport. In the 1930's he came to Polk county, later moving to Greene county.
He was united in marriage to Cleta Pearl Hawn. To this union one son, Russell V., of Marshalltowon was born. The couple farmed in Greene county most of their married life. He was a member of the IOOF No. 469 at Lohrville and of the First Methodist Church, Jefferson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, four brothers, Jeff, Claud, Jack and Eugene; two sisters, May and Lue. Surviving are his son, three brothers, John of East Leavonworth, Seth of St. Joseph, and George Dunn(of Utah), and one sister, Clara Jeffroies (Geoffroy) of Kansas City, all in Missouri.
