Orangeburg - Samuel Harley, 68, died Monday. Born in Orangeburg County, he was a son of the late Mrs. Essie Mae Chavis. He was a World War II Army veteran, a retired employee of General Motors Co. and a member of Beaver Creek Baptist Church and the American Legion. Surviving are daughters, Miss Joyce Harley of Buffalo, N.Y., and Mrs. Melanie Davis of North; and a son, John Harley of Orangeburg. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Beaver Creek Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at Culler Funeral Home of North, and a viewing will be from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday at the church. © The State, Columbia, SC, 16 Nov 1988
