From Winnie:
Rev. John Brewster was a minister in the Old Stone Association of Free Will Baptists, and the 1879 annual minutes of its meeting at Laurel Creek Church, Cumberland Co. TN., gives some business which includes the name of Rev. John Brewster. He also preached the introductory sermon at this meeting.
"...On motion, and in pursuance of Section 9 of the Declaration of Rights, there were appointed as Presbyters, Elders T. J. Clouse, John Brewster, Joseph A. Moyers, G. L. Moyers and John Stowers for the next associational year. On motion, the ministers were appointed to attend the several churches as pastors..." [then it gives names of several churches in the group.] Rev. Brewster was evidently a leader and active in the association and its endeavors until his death.
