He was a book keeper in Logan, Utah for Union Knitting Company than self-employed as a book keeper in California. He had one daughter, Marian Skidmore Preston who married Richard Amussen Preston (both from Logan, UT). His mother was from Sweden and hardly spoke English when she came to n America. His father was born in England and had passed away before the family came to the US.

He was drafted between 1917-1918 (WWI) and again in 1942 (WWII)
