Born of a 13 year old mother. He farmed corn & cotton in Louisiana. Served in Co. C, 11th Battalion, Louisiana Infantry CSA. He left to fight in the Civil War soon after his marriage & building of his house. He built a log cabin without nails for his wife & family who lived there 70 years.
When this house caught fire, he died of exhaustion trying to carry water from the spring to put it out. He made wagon wheels & was the best blacksmith in the neighborhood. He fixed tools. He loved kids & would give them walnuts & plums. He was hard of hearing so didn't mind their noise.
