James Clay Cradduck was the 3rd child born to Moses Marion Cradduck and Mary Ann Lucinda Dotson.

He and Sarah Elizabeth Blevins were married November 4, 1897 in Crawford County, Arkansas. After her death in 1939, he and Mora Alice Lynn Butler were married in 1946.

James Clay Cradduck, 74, died at the home in Fittstown Friday night at 11:07; funeral this afternoon at 2, Fittstown Baptist church, Rev. Holt Sodeman; Jesse cemetery, Smith Funeral Home.

Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Mora Cradduck; daughters, Mrs. Bertie Sherrell of Harden City, Mrs. Dovie Byrd of Stonewall, Mrs. Pauline Sanders and Mrs. Dora Jumper of Ada; sons, George and J.C. of Harden City, James of Anson, Tex.; brother, M. L. Cradduck, Stonewall; stepsons, Woodrow and D.F. Butler of Tulsa; 16 grandchildren.

Cradduck Death Removes Pioneer
James C. Cradduck Had Been Resident of County Since 1901


Death of James Clay Cradduck at his home in Harden City Sunday removed another pioneer from this county. He was 74.

He was born in Texas, was married in 1897 in Arkansas to Miss Sarah Elizabeth Blevins. Mrs. Cradduck died in 1939. In 1946 he married Mrs. Mora Alice Butler.

Mr. Cradduck came to what is now Pontotoc County from Arkansas in 1901 and lived near Stonewall until his death.

Surviving are daughters, Mrs. Bertie Sherrell, Mrs. Dora Jumper and Mrs. Dovie Byrd of Stonewall, Mrs. Pauline Sanders, Ada; sons George of Harden City, James of Anson, Tex., J.C. Jr., of Harden City; brother, M. L. Cradduck, Stonewall; 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
