OBITUARY for GEORGW W. SHIRK

George W. Shirk, 85, of Port Royal RR1, died at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 20, 1996, at Lewistown Hospital.

Born March 3, 1910, in Juniata County, he was a son of the late George W. and Margaret [Jones] Shirk.

His wife, Essalinda [Walters] Shirk, whom he married December 20, 1933, survives. Also surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. Charles G. [Arlene] Zeigler, Milroy RR1; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Herring, Tremont, Mrs. Mary Hatter, Virginia Beach, VA; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, John Shirk, Harry Shirk and Jerome Shirk and five sisters, Elizabeth Arentz, Erma Smith, Almeda McNaight, Dorothy Fry and Beulah Wise.

He was a self-employed carpenter and a member of St.
Stephen's Lutheran Church, Licking Creek, Turbett Grange No. 781 and Friendship Fire Co., Port Royal.

Services were held Friday at Rex Funeral Home, Port Royal, with Rev. Howard D. Houtz officiating. Interment was in Old Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal.
