Marshal D. Fox, Sr., 91, passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2008, in Granbury, Texas. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, July 18, at Western Heights Baptist Church with Marshal D. Fox Jr. officiating. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 17, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home.

Marshal was born in San Saba, Texas, to the late Marshal Calvin and Nanny Roe Fox. In 1937, he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Husbandry, and in 1944, his Master's of Education in Agriculture, both from Texas A&M University. He began his career teaching at various high schools in Texas.

He served in the U.S. Navy and taught returning veterans after the war. He went into the Foreign Service, where he later became Agricultural Attache. He and his wife, Lena, lived in four different foreign countries where he was assigned, India, El Salvador, Costa Rica and Panama. They moved to Waco in 1977.

Marshal was a member of Western Heights Baptist Church, where he served for many years as a deacon.

He is survived by sons, Marshal D. Fox Jr. and his wife, Sophia, of Arvada, Colorado, and Jerry Fox and his wife, Gale, of Granbury; daughter, Carolyn Fox Hearne and her husband, Nick, of Kilgore, Texas; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
