Emmett Alexander "Alex" Standley was born in 1848 in Henry County, Alabama. He was the fifth child of Needham Standley and Eleanor Hogan.
In 1870 he and most of the Standley's came to Texas and settled in Trinity county and Polk county. That same year he married Margaret Ann "Maggie" Brent in Trinity County, Texas. Maggie was born on October 31,1851 in Holly, Texas and passed away Febuary 25,1928 in Houston. She was the daughter of Cader Buxton Brent and Rebecca Cottrell Speer.
He and Maggie had nine children: Sarah R. was born in 1871 in Trinity, John A. was born in 1872 Trinity, Sally was born in 1874 in Lovelady and died in 1980 in Lovelady, Walter B. was born in Dec.1876 in Trinity, Needham A. was born in 1878 in Trinity, Luther was born in March 1881 in Trinity and died in 1902 in Trinity, Lena Indiana was born on May 18,1883 in Farm House Bushy Creek, Texas and died on May 2,1974 in Houston, Will born in 1887 in Trinity and died in 1970 and my great grandfather Earnest Benjamen was born on Sep.14,1890 in Trinity and died Jan.1,1968 in Spring.
Alex died in 1890 leaving behind his wife to take care of their children.
He was preceded in death by his father Needham Standley.
He is survived by his granddaughter's Esther and Maggie Standley, grandson Earnest "Bunk" Standley, and many other family members.
