Young Lady Dies
Miss Alex Adams Succumbs to Ravages of Tuberculosis
Miss Alex Adams, who left Hickman last year for Roswell, N.M., on account of failing health, died Thursday morning at one o'clock, of tuberculosis, after an illness of something like two years. Her mother and sister, Miss Hazel, were at her bedside when the end came, which of course was not unexpected.
Miss Adams was probably known to more people in this vicinity than any other lady residing here, as she was employed in the postoffice until the break-down in her health. Never was there a more popular and efficient clerk in the Hickman office, and her large list of business acquaintances soon became her friends. Deceased was just past 24 years of age - in the flower of young womanhood. Her untimely death robs her home and friends of one of the noblest characters and sweetest girls ever reared in this city. In early girlhood she united with the Methodist church, living a life consistent with the teaching of her Maker.
Besides her parents Mr. and Mrs. M.A. Adams, Miss Alex is survived by three brothers, John Q., E.W. and Wesley; and two sisters, Mrs. Ida Lassiter and Miss Hazel Adams, all of this city.
Burial took place at Roswell Monday afternoon at two o'clock.
Having been born and reared in this city, deceased had many friends here, who bid her a last adieu with hearts heavy with sorrow, and sympathize with the relatives in their great loss
